PROJECT SUMMARY

The aim of the project was to develop a network of off-road multi purpose trails in Castle Ward which meet the needs of domestic visitors and form the basis of an activity holiday.

BACKGROUND

Since 2003 the Countryside Access and Activities Network had been working in partnership with the National Trust and British Horse Society to construct a series of multi-use trails through the scenic Castle Ward Demesne. DRAP funding helped to refurbish Castle Ward with new signage, parking areas and other amenities that would encourage visitors to make the most of the new trails.

ACTIVITIES

Funding from DRAP enabled the applicant to erect gates and information panels, and to construct a bike wash and car park in the grounds of Castle Ward with a view to the completion of the overall project multi purpose trails.
