Purchase of equipment to aid the expansion of agricultural repairs business through offering a portable welding service.
Having been made redundant from his job where he worked as a fabrication engineer, Mr McNicholl established a business on his father’s farm where he was undertaking general agricultural repairs for local farmers and the agricultural contracting sector. Criostal wanted to expand the business further and specialise in the design, fabrication and manufacture of bespoke agricultural handling and feed equipment.
To expand the business the applicant wanted to establish a mobile welding and agricultural engineering side of the business to enable him to weld everything on the customers premises, reducing his overheads and the requirement to have much equipment. Another advantage would be the ability to provide a 24hr service to the north east area as many contractors and farmers cannot afford for a piece of equipment to be broken out of regular hours as there are no parts or repair firms open during these times.
