PROJECT SUMMARY

Purchase of equipment to increase efficiency and productivity within a steel fabrication company.

BACKGROUND

The promoter, Mr Ernest Carrick set up Fabritec in January 2010. It is a steel fabrication company specializing in design, manufacture and erection of steel portal frame buildings within Northern Ireland. The company offers a diverse range of high quality products, and a low-cost, reliable service. It is an alternative to large engineering firms with high overheads.

The promoter, along with his son Thomas Carrick, share significant experience, expertise and knowledge, not only on steel fabrication and production techniques, but also within this specific market.

ACTIVITIES

Items funded:

Iron-worker - This is a ‘shearing and punching’ machine and is the base for an effective solution to cutting and punching problems of flats and sections for companies that do not have large production requirements, but require a satisfactory work quality from a robust machine. It is activated by an electronic control.

Welder-generator - This is a solution to welding on-site where there is no electrical supply. Engine driven welders can be easily transported. Diesel or petrol drives an electric generator, which then powers the welder.

BENEFITS

  • Extensive knowledge of key customers and their expectations
  • Vast network in terms of customers, suppliers and support
  • Wide-ranging skills from invaluable experience
  • Excellent reputation gained due to quality workmanship and reliability.

LESSONS

The promoter hopes to generate turnover of £96,000 by end of Year 2.
