To run a cross community festival where young and old can come together and celebrate their rural heritage by taking part in enjoyable community activities.
Glór an Dúin are a relatively new management committee in the Kilcoo area, with the aim to increase community activity in their area and combat rural isolation. In order to do that they approached DRAP for funding for the cross-community Festival of the Lough, aiming to build community spirit and address the lack of activities available to seniors and young people in the area. The project offered marginalised sports and activities, as well as a number of educational classes.
Funding from DRAP allowed Glor an Dúin to run a cross community festival where young and old could come together and celebrate their rural heritage by taking part in enjoyable community activities such as music classes, Irish classes, bingo, cycle races, fun run, soccer sevens and old tyme dancing.
