To completion of building and decorating works associated with re-opening of a community facility in Rostrevor village to host events and activities for the local community.
From inception to 2005, the Rostrevor and District Community Association undertook their meetings and development of community activities in other non-community oriented buildings, i.e. members homes, GAA halls, parish halls etc which were deemed not fit for purpose and unsuitable for community development and cross community activities. In 2005 the Rostrevor and District Community Association acquired a building from the Parish. The building, still leased by the Association, is located in the heart of the village of Rostrevor, and has in the past been used as a venue for the delivery of services, community meeting space and community recreation space. However, the hall was in poor repair.
Under Axis 3, through SOAR, items funded included Materials + labour for roof repairs: - replacement of guttering and down pipes; Windows: - replacement of front and entrance windows to double glazing; Heating: install electric heating; Insulating works to walls and ceilings, installation of new plasterboard ceiling; Desktop computer, monitor and printer. This refurbished hall can become the local community base, and centre for focusing, developing and implementing new projects which will rejuvenate community life and spirit.
Now that the building works have completed, the Association hope to undertake / house the following activities / groups for the benefit of the entire community:
