Purchase of a licence and equipment to enhance capacity within a mechanical engineering design business.
Solve Engineering was established four years ago to offer industrial mechanical engineering design as well as CAD 2D and technical drawing services. The owner of the business, Samuel Paul, is an experienced design engineer, having worked within the design, draughting and solid modelling sector since he graduated from university. Samuel is the sole employee within the firm, but business has been growing at such a rate that he is unable to keep up with the demand for his services and is hoping to employ a CAD technician.
Samuel applied to Axis 3, through North East Region for grant assistance to enable him to purchase a licence for the CAD software for a new staff member as well as a PC, monitor and workstation for them to operate from. Without this licence the new technician would have been unable to undertake any CAD drawings or modelling of new pieces of equipment and machinery. The purchase of this licence also enables Samuel to take on additional jobs and work more closely with the manufacturer on the design elements.
