PROJECT SUMMARY

BACKGROUND

The Downpatrick & Co Down Railway (DCDR) believed that expanding the line by an extra mile to include Ballydugan and Downpatrick Racecourse would enhance visitor enjoyment and attract more passengers. They applied for funding to refurbish the Loop Platform and upgrade the Loop Rail to make it safe and to bring a proportion of it back into use.

ACTIVITIES

Funding from DRAP enabled the applicant to pay for labour, equipment and professionals to upgrade the tracks and install electricity at the Inch Abbey Halt.
