To enhance the facility of a glass fusing workshop to allow further Master Classes in unique glass fusing techniques to take place.
The Glass Studio has been in operation for 19 years, offering courses in unique glass fusing techniques to students in the studio located in the rural setting of Loughries, County Down. A range of 1, 2, 3 and 4 day workshops are held, covering tiffany glass painting, traditional glass painting and glass fusing techniques.
The Glass Studio runs glass fusing Master Classes on an international basis, to date courses have been run in Scotland, Switzerland and Norway.
Funded under Axis 3, through Down Rural Area Partnership, the project involved the purchase of a larger kiln, kiln shelves and moulds to enhance the facility. The electricity supply connection was established to allow the promoter to run more Master Classes and workshops. In addition the project created new employment for a seasonal worker.
