PROJECT SUMMARY

Installation of a professional kitchen to expand facilities of a local business, catering for a wider clientele.

BACKGROUND

The project promoter, Emmet Quinn, has run a well known local public house in Camlough, Co. Armagh for 16 years.  The pub is located at the gateway of the Ring of Gullion in an Area of Outstanding  Natural Beauty (AONB).  To capitalise on the tourism potential, Emmet wanted to offer a broader range of service and identified the provision of food  as a key priority.

ACTIVITIES

Funded under Axis 3, through SOAR, assistance was sought from the Programme to install a professional kitchen to provide food and boost tourism potential of this family owned public house.  Building works associated with preparing the kitchen area, such as wiring, plumbing and all ancillary works were also included in the project.  The Yellow Heifer Restaurant was thus established.

BENEFITS

The new kitchen has enhanced the business and provided additional service in the area.
