To install a 20kW wind turbine to increase the farm's potential and generate income offering environmental and financial sustainability for years to come.
For the past 40 years Eric and Myrtle Johnston have farmed approximately 70 acres (and own 50 acres) where they graze a herd of 60 cows and 100 sheep. They identified a need to increase the farm’s potential and value using good location and elevated hill farmland. Mr Johnston, and his son, both have a background in business and engineering skills.
Enironmental benefits: energy will be sold back to the national grid which will reduce the farm's carbon footprint. The farm will be used as an example of green energy and local schools have expressed an interest in visiting to learn more. Financial: Offers financial sustainability to the farm via energy sold to the national grid.
