The applicant, Liam Rooney, is a part-time farmer who lives outside Kilkeel and a few miles from Cranfield Beach the most southerly point of Northern Ireland. The applicant worked for 35 years in the construction industry where he has his own plastering company, which at a time employed 6 FT plasters. The applicant now dedicates part of his time to the running of his self-catering cottage - a 2 bedroom, 3 star self catering cottage located on the Grange road, Kilkeel, a business which he established in 2008 as a farm diversification project. The applicant has established this business and has approximately a 22% occupancy rate (12 weeks per year).
