Expansion of premises to create a purpose-built practice, developing the neighbouring unit to turn it into a modern space servicing the vibrant village of Crumlin.
Business owner, Julie Robinson, set up her optometry business in 1985, offering a range of high quality optometry services to the local community. Julie started the business after graduating from Manchester University and gaining her professional qualifications and established a second branch in Moira some 20 years ago. With a growing customer base, Julie saw the need to expand the premises
The renovations have created an eye-catching shopfront, with the new window showcasing the huge range of glasses and sunglasses available. The new open plan reception area is spacious and welcoming, and an additional test room has been created upstairs, meaning the business can cater for more customers and encourage optometric care for patients of all ages.

After months of hard work, Julie is delighted to officially open and launch the new premises, “It was the right time for me to expand the facilities I had here and although there was a lot of work, the new-look creates the perfect space to provide eye care for everyone in the local community. The grant from GROW gave me the boost to develop and cater for the growing population of Crumlin. So call in and see us! Whether it’s for an eye test or to take a look at our range of sunglasses, everyone is welcome!”
Vera McWilliam, Chair of GROW South Antrim LAG commented, “It is so encouraging to see a business grow and develop with the help of the funding opportunities available from the Rural Development Programme.
