The establishment of a cross country eventing course and a facility which can school horses and ponies aswell as providing a safe training course.
Moira Equestrian Centre is a family run business situated in Moira. It was traditionally a mixed farming enterprise. However, the land had significant potential to stage equine events as the limestone based grounds were well drained and conducive to holding events all year round irrespective of potential wet weather conditions in the winter.
Funded under Axis 3, through Lagan Rural Partnership, the project enabled the promoter to develop a cross country eventing course to include 16 landscaped jums, 2 banks and a water jump. The project also generated 2 new FTE posts, and staged a promotional launch event and website.

The course is adaptable to suit young beginners as well as more experienced amateur riders. The facility also serves to meet the needs of the local professional riders and event horse owners; and provides a suitable training ground which allows local horse owners and pony club members to train and compete at national events.. The new initiative has also created the employment of a facilities manager and administration officer.
