Purchase of a computerised CNC Router and installation of greener energy system for kitchen manufacturers to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
The Design Yard's core business is the design and manufacture of high quality kitchens. They supply to NI, ROI, UK and Spain. Prior to the project the company used machines high in energy use, were slow and cumbersome.
Funded under Axis 3, through SWARD, the project involved the purchase of a computerised CNC Router which the promoter inputs drawings into and the machine cuts as required, still maintaining high levels of quality whilst reducing wastage and increasing output times. The installation of a greener energy system - a woodchip burner to burn waste wood and heat the premises - was also part of the project.
The project created 4 full time jobs and allowed the company to increase its export market.
