To develop a fully accessible sensory garden in a barren area of land.
Castle Espie underwent major redevelopment in 2007-2009. However, a barren patch of land next to the visitor centre was not included in the project and needed to be improved in line with the rest of the site, creating a sensory garden comprising of six striking individual gardens, and two wildlife observatory spaces.
Funding from DRAP enabled Castle Espie to design and landscape six sensory gardens and two wildlife observatory spaces.
