The project is to support the farm diversification business at Harrison's Nursery at Greyabbey by developing a Coffee Shop/Restaurant and a farm shop which will sell a variety of fruit & vegetables produced on the farm and in the nursery.
The applicant works the family farm, which was initially a dairy farm, and has responded to market opportunities over the years spending some time specializing in pedigree pigs as well as producing potatoes and vegetables. Harrison’s Nursery is situated approximately a mile outside Greyabbey on the Ards Peninsula. It has been in operation for eleven years selling all types of garden plants, trees and hedging and specializing in hanging baskets. The existing nursery is a working nursery where everything is grown from scratch.
Demolition of existing nursery building and replacement with new coffee shop / restaurant. Alterations to existing buildings for use as farm shop. Provision of car parking and landscaping and landscaped areas.
Creation of a new business, "Harrison's of Greyabbey" and new employment opportunites.
