Project involves the purchase of a Pezzolato saw (block cutter head), a cleaning station plus elevators and dust extraction and a wood burner (for the kiln) to increase production. Also a marketing and training programme.
Applicant works on family farm (sheep and suckler cows) and has 12 years experience in the family kindling business plus 3 years managerial experience in his own business. He currently employs 3 workers producing in excess of 150 bags logs per day for independent fuel companies and shops in NI and in ROI. In addition, there is an increasing demand to supply kiln dried logs suitable for glass fronted stoves (min 100 bags per day). There is only I other supplier of kiln dried logs on island of Ireland.
A saw, a wood burner and a cleaning station was funded.
The funded project will create 3 new jobs and generate new revenue into the community.
Production will increase from 150 bags per day – 400 bags per day + 100 bags kiln dried logs
