Mrs Ervine owns and runs a beef, sheep and grain farm in Dromara and recognised a need to diversify to offer increased sustainability. Built in 1840 and originally a Porter’s Lodge, The Gate Lodge at Scion Hill is situated at the top of a leafy avenue to a Gentleman’s Residence. The property fell into disrepair until Esther Ervine lovingly restored the listed building and re-launched it offering five-star luxury self-catering accommodation.


The funding awarded was used for:

  • construction work
  • foundations
  • sub floors
  • roofing
  • windows, and doors
  • painting
  • hard landscaping.


The benefits of this project are that it offers financial sustainability, creates new emplpyment opportunites and promotes tourism in Dromara.
